Channel 12 Anchor Kushmaro: I'm Disappointed Ofakim Residents Voted Netanyahu After October 7

Danny Kushmaro questioned on-air why the Mishor HaGefen neighborhood, where 33 residents were murdered on October 7, gave 65% to Netanyahu's bloc in the 2026 election

Channel 12 news anchor Danny Kushmaro addressed the voting patterns of Ofakim's Mishor HaGefen neighborhood during Friday night's "Studio Friday" broadcast, expressing puzzlement over the high level of support for Prime Minister Netanyahu's bloc despite the severe terror attack the neighborhood endured on October 7.

"Look at this, for example, the Mishor HaGefen neighborhood in Ofakim. On October 7, terrorists who drove Toyotas some 25 kilometers from the Gaza border entered there, went house to house through the neighborhood and murdered 33 of the neighborhood's residents. Thirty-three killed from just one small neighborhood. A terrible failure," Kushmaro said.

He then connected the tragedy to the residents' voting behavior: "So what. Three years later, the Mishor HaGefen neighborhood gave 65 percent to the Netanyahu bloc, on whose watch this disaster happened."

The remarks drew a critical response from Channel 14 anchor Yinon Magal, who argued that voting patterns in Gaza envelope kibbutzim should be examined in the same manner.

"Did anyone here watch Studio Friday and can tell me if they were also shocked by the voting in the envelope kibbutzim, where they continued to vote for the 'Democrats' who want a government with someone who can't condemn Hamas...," he wrote.
